Class Descriptions

Salimpour Format 1

New to bellydance or the Salimpour format? Then this is the perfect class for you! This curriculum focuses on the breakdown and execution of the basic movement vocabulary in both the Suhaila and Jamila formats of bellydance. You will work on proper body posture, clean execution of movement, basic floor patterns and combinations. No prior experience necessary! This is a fun introduction for those new to the art, and a great class to work on refinement of technique for those with some experience. All Welcome! 

Salimpour Format 2/3

Looking to get serious with your bellydance skills? Then this is the class for you! This curriculum focuses on the next tier of bellydance vocabulary in both the Suhaila and Jamila formats. We will work on speed, stamina, quality of movement, layering concepts, as well as specialty concepts pertaining to stylizations, music, props, etc. Finger Cymbals are required. You must be Level 1 certified in either Salimpour format to take this class. ers. It's easy on the eyes and a great go to font for titles, paragraphs & more.

Dance Movement

Ever been mesmerized by the way a dancer moves? What you are most likely responding to is the quality of the dancers movement, often brought about by years of Western Dance training. This class focuses on a subset of Western Dance principles as they apply to bellydance. Basic ballet/jazz principles will be taught such as foot patterns, turns, arm positions, quality of movement and more. This is an open level class that requires no bellydance experience to attend. 

Folkloric Fusion

This fun, high energy class focuses on developing freedom in your finger cymbal abilities while getting your groove on with basic Jamila and Dance Movement body expressions. You will learn how to relax into the movement while training your hands to play cymbals like a musician. This is an open level class - all are welcome. Finger Cymbal patterns will be modified to fit the student.
